Llynyfran Surgery is one of two NHS GP Practices serving the town of Llandysul and surrounding areas. We are located above the town close to the newly built super school. Our rural practice currently comprises of 5 doctors, 2 practice nurses, reception staff, community nurses and health visitors all overseen by a practice manager. In addition, we have either one or two training GPs at the surgery. Our aim is to provide high quality medical care to the best of our ability for all our patients.

We are approved for the training of doctors who wish to specialise in General Practice . These trainees are called GP Registrars . They spend between 6 months to 1 year at the practice depending on their stage of training. They consult patients in the same way as a GP partner . Their work is overseen by the partners and GP trainers at the practice to ensure quality of care and enhance training. Their training also involves assessing their consultation skills. To do this they often need to video their consultations for training and assessment purposes. The recordings are confidential . Your permission and signed consent will be requested before any consultation is recorded.
We are also approved for the training of medical students who spend 8 weeks at the practice as part of their undergraduate training . Both GP registrars and medical students start their training by sitting in and observing GP partners consultations. We hope you will help us to continue to train doctors in this way and appreciate any feedback you may have .
At Llynyfran Surgery, we are committed to providing the best health care and advice we can for you and your family. We also like to encourage our patients to take care of themselves on an ongoing basis. Some quick pointers are:
We can run a number of diagnostic tests either at Llynyfran Surgery or from other specialist units or local hospitals. Test results can be obtained by telephone between 11.00am – 4.00pm. Results will only be given to the patient concerned, except in the case of children under 16 years old.
Test results not seen by a doctor cannot be given out. Please note that the receptionists are unable to discuss medical matters but will refer you to a doctor, or nurse, if available.
We are pleased to be able to offer a range of preventative vaccinations to our patients which we encourage you to consider. More details can be found on the following:
